Andrés journey from the Parisian streets to international acclaim is little short of inspirational Having begun painting on walls in 1985, the Swedish-born André quickly became most active graffiti artist in the French capital, his playful yet subversive Mr. A character establishing its creator as an icon of Parisian life, synonymous with everything chic and creative. André has since painted more than 100000 Mr.A pieces around the world, granting him global recognition and high-profile commissions from the fashion and art worlds. One of Andrés most famous art projects is entitled Love Graffiti, where he spray-paints the name of a lover in big bubble letters at a particular location chosen by each client. This was a move away from the preconceived idea that graffiti art had to maintain a singular tag or name. Each Love Graffiti comes with a photograph and a certificate to keep the trace of this ephemeral artwork. André has found other ways to express his creativity. His Parisian nightspot Le Baron has been such a successful magnet for the citys art and fashion elite that he has subsequently partnered with designer Marc Newsom to opened a Tokyo branch and created pop-up Le Baron party spaces at the Cannes film festival and Art Basel.
